Well-child Care
Children should visit a pediatrician regularly throughout childhood. Well-child checkups are great opportunities for your child's provider to monitor growth and development, and to identify small concerns before they become larger problems. These appointments also give you time to ask questions about your child's health or behavior. Office visits also give your child chances to get to know the provider.
Children typically see providers for well-child checkups at these ages:
- A few days after hospital discharge
- One week
- Two weeks
- One month
- Two months
- Four months
- Six months
- Nine months
- One year
- 15 months
- 18 months
- Two years
- 30 months
- 3 years
- Annually after age 3
- Your child's provider might suggest more frequent visits to address or monitor specific health concerns.
